Skin chemists 24 Hour Aqua Repair Facial Serum
With the transitional weather that seems to be never ending, my skin has been breaking out quite a bit recently. It's so frustrating when my skin does eventually clear up because I'm left with red marks. If I could find a moisturising serum that will take care of my dry patches and sort out my uneven skin tone/redness then I am more than willing to splurge on it. Lucky for me though, just as I was looking into whether something like this even existed, inside February's LookFantastic box I was sent theSkin Chemists 24 Hour Aqua Repair Facial Serum.
Skin Chemists claim that the 24 Hour Aqua Repair Facial Serum is "a delicate blend of advanced active ingredients work in tandem to infuse skin with vitamins and antioxidants, working to minimise the look of uneven skin tone and redness while delivering deep hydration with long lasting results. Suitable for all skin types, it helps promote a more even and healthier looking complexion that feels firmer and more refined."
The main active ingredients in the formulation are:
1. Rose Water to calm and soothe the skin.
2. Allantoin aims to moisturise and soothe thanks to its healing and anti-inflammatory properties.
3. Aloe Vera which stimulates the healing process of the skin, its anti-inflammatory properties enable gentle soothing of the skin.
The 24 Hour Aqua Repair Facial Serum comes in squeezy tube and is a cloudy coloured serum with a gel like consistency. The serum has a very strong flowery/sweet smell but I guess nothing that's too overpowering. The instructions state using a pea size amount all over the face morning and night. I'm always dubious when they say pea-sized amount because even though I have a small face, that's not going to cover the whole thing. I did find however that it's very very easy to spread and sinks into my skin really easily so you can use just tiniest amount on your face. Just as well really, because a 30ml tube will set you back £29(!) I'm someone who doesn't mind spending on skin care at all, as long as I'm going to get results and so by the end of my use I was expecting to see major results.
Two months on and I've very nearly finished with the tube. Overall I liked the feel of it on me and it seemed to be taking well to my skin. It hasn't irritated or broken me out which is great. I initially used it just at night times to see if I woke up to any difference and I was surprised to see that my dry patches weren't so prominent in the mornings. After 2 weeks I continued to use the 24 hour repair serum mornings and evening and my dry skin seems to be completely under control. I am however slightly disappointed at how it didn't do much for my red marks.
Having said that, by week 5 of using the serum I noticed that my face was looking slightly brighter overall but again the red marks hadn't completely disappeared as I'd hoped. Slightly gutted about that! If you're looking to get your dry skin under control while attempting to tackle redness I'd say give it a go, if you're concern is more just focusing on your redness/marks then this might just be a product to skip.
